Description
Polyphyllin VI is a natural product derived from the rhizomes of Paris yunnanensis Franch, which is traditionally used in Chinese medicine. It is known for its various bioactivities, including hemostasis, expectorant, bacteriostasis, anticytotoxic, anti-pregnancy, and sperm-killing effects. Recent studies have shown that Polyphyllin VI exhibits significant antitumor activity, particularly against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), by inducing apoptosis and autophagy both in vitro and in vivo. It has also been reported to inhibit cell proliferation by causing G2/M phase arrest and to induce apoptosis and autophagy through ROS/JNK activation in certain cell types. Additionally, Polyphyllin VI has been shown to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, relieving inflammatory pain by inhibiting inflammation and normalizing the expression of P2X3 purinoceptors.
