BOC Sciences has a long-standing focus on the development of separation technologies and processes, and based on our existing laboratory equipment and instrumentation, we are able to perform the separation of a wide range of natural products. One of our commonly used separation methods is macroporous adsorption resin technology. Macroporous adsorption resin is a class of polymer adsorbent without ion exchange groups and with a large pore mesh structure, which is a porous cross-linked polymer and has the role of separation and enrichment for organic substances. It is physicochemically and chemically stable, insoluble in water, acids and bases and hydrophilic organic solvents, insoluble when heated, and can be used below 150℃.
The adsorption of macroporous adsorption resin is mainly realized by surface adsorption, surface electrical properties or formation of complex bonds. Therefore, macroporous adsorption resin has a large specific surface area, which is mainly through intermolecular forces on the adsorbed molecules established in the adsorption, on the other hand, it has a certain pore size, different molecular size of compounds through the resin column, the resin has a certain molecular sieve effect. Resins with different polarity and different pore size have different selectivity for different kinds of compounds, thus achieving the purpose of separation and purification. Generally speaking, for compounds with similar molecular weight, the less polarity, the stronger the adsorption capacity, the more difficult it is to elute down; the more polarity, the weaker the adsorption capacity, the easier it is to elute down. For compounds with similar polarity, the larger the molecular weight, the easier it is to elute down. Since the adsorption between the resin and the separated components is physical adsorption, it makes the adsorbed substances elute more easily, and the resin itself is easily regenerated. Therefore, the macroporous adsorption resin has good selectivity, high mechanical strength, easy regeneration processing, fast adsorption speed, and is not affected by the presence of inorganic salts and strong ions and low molecular compounds.
BOC Sciences uses macroporous adsorption resin technology for the separation of natural products, including flavonoids, alkaloids and other types of natural products. We also perform decolorization and deproteinization of natural product extracts to maximize the retention of the active ingredients. Customers can consult with us according to their needs, and we will provide you with the most suitable project services and efficient processing speed.
Macroporous adsorption resin technology is widely used for the separation and purification of flavonoid components, and the effect is remarkable, the process is simple and stable, and the cost is low.
In comparison, various other purification methods are less efficient, more complicated and more costly. The eluent used in the macroporous resin method is ethanol of different concentrations, which is less toxic and easier to operate.
Through careful selection of resin type and reasonable setting of process parameters, the use of macroporous resin refinement of saponins can achieve good selectivity, high yield of saponins and high purity of good results.
The application of macroporous resin for the extraction of polysaccharide components greatly reduces the process time, achieves the purpose of decolorization and deproteinization, and is more suitable for continuous industrial production.
