Description
Gallocatechin gallate is found in almond and is extracted from the herbs of Celastrus orbiculatus. It belongs to a kind of catechin and is the ester of gallocatechin and gallic acid. It is an epimer of epigallocatechin gallate. It effectively inhibit cholesterol absorption in rats. It has positive effects on bone metabolism through a double process of inhibiting osteoclast differentiations and promoting osteoblastic activity. It can decrease osteoclastogenesis at 20 microM. It increases sensitivity of insulin and has anti-diabetic effects, which is more active than epigallocatechin gallate. It inhibits lipopolysaccharide induced inflammation and 3T3-L1 differentiation through NF-κB and MAPK signaling. It shows anti-obesity activity. It also shows strong antioxidative activities.
