Mahanine, a carbazole alkaloid (occurs in the edible part of Micromelum minutum, Murraya koenigii and related species), is a DNA minor groove binding agent with potent anticancer activity. Mahanine exhibits antileishmanial activity and can be used for Leishmania infection treatment research.
