Description

Alstonine is an indole alkaloid isolated from Alstonia boonei, Catharanthus roseus, Picralima nitida, Rauwolfia caffra and Rauwolfia vomitoria, which displays an antipsychotic effect. Preclinical studies revealed that alstonine attenuated MK-801-induced hyperlocomotion, working memory deficit and social withdrawal.
