Description
Ginsenoside Rg1, one of the main constituents of Panax ginseng, exhibits hypoallergenic and antiinflammatory properties. It acts as a weak phytoestrogen, presumably by binding and activating the estrogen receptor. It was also found to have a membrane-stabilizing action as revealed by differential scanning calorimetry. It can alleviate inflammatory symptoms in atopic dermatitis (AD) by reduction of IgE and IL-6 levels in peripheral blood, increase of Foxp3 expression in draining lymph nodes and suppression of inflammation in skin regions.
