Description
Euphohelioscopin A is extracted from the herbs of Euphorbia helioscopia. It shows moderate inhibitory activity on the release of IL-6, chemokine MCP-1 and cytokine TNF-α with IC50 values of 46.1± 1.1, 33.7±3.8 and 23.7 ± 1.7 uM in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced RAW 264.7 macrophages, but displays no notable cytotoxicity. It inhibits proliferation and induces differentiation of the myeloid leukemia cell lines HL-60 and THP-1. It is an activator of protein kinase C (PKC).
